Bacon Snow
When the low in SF hits the 40s or so, nothing warms you up quite like Bacon Snow.
No, this is not a Denny’s in the mid 80s — Handsom Kevin was not seen.
I love sake in cans. But in all honesty nothing quite compliments pecan pie quite like powdered sugar with that subtle hint of, oh, bacon. How I didn’t spit sake over the pie when I saw the mirror I do not know.
Good menu all around. Sausages were great, and La Lengua, wow.
“Get Local” Mission Street Party – Fri, Dec 12, 6-10pm
Not a close-down-the-street block party, but it proceeds support Tipping Point which is a cool organization. So do your Christmas shopping at these places tomorrow night. Stores are in two clusters:
- [22nd – 19th] x [Mission – Guerrero] (aka Hipster Valencia)
- [17th-14th] x [Mission – Guerrero] (the yet unnamed north end of the Mission)
- 826 Valencia will be unveiling a new window display by justin cARRRRRder
- “Pizza 16” (née Katz Bagels) will have $1 off a slice — go in and tell them to mount a flying pizza
- $2 off Trumer Pils and sangria at Dalva, cheap drinks all over
- more DJs than you can shake a stick at
A couple of places have a 15% discount for those who are currently underutilized by society, just provide an unemployment stub.
Good God! Mission Street Food Includes La Lengua AND Benton Bacon
|
I admire Ryan Farr’s aggressive use of bacon this week. And la lengua (while not libre) is best served corned.
Nuestra Panorama de los Dolores
Billboards + Tags = Improvement
Nice layering of colors, Shenge. (Or Shence? Your strange letters frighten yet attract me.) “Silence”.
51% true (though not entirely fair to Oakland since they voted against Prop 8 and Alameda County has joined the lawsuit.)
MSF Back in Action
I am glad this exists.
Added bonus — this week’s MSF became a vehicle for my cornbread addiction.
I will leave individual food shots to Jesse.

Bike Jousting on Valencia?
So Brooklyn has this thing called “Bike Kill” where they joust on bikes and do all sorts of crazy shit such as lighting one’s ride on fire. I wholeheartedly approve. (This is definitely an option if you miss out on the free blinky lights tonight.)
Why doesn’t SF have this? (Or do we?) If we don’t, let’s divide Critical Mass into two groups, set them on different sides of the city and they can race to Valencia with lances in hand. With bikes on fire. I’d pay good money to see that.
Anyway, all this bike stuff is just an excuse for me to include this shot from Bike Kill — I just fucking love it.
Go Habs!
Bernalrama – Sutro to Candlestick, and Mission in between
Mission, I see all of you (and then some).
Click to embiggen (and click again if your browser autosizes wide images). New 2.0 version of Panorama lets you make ridiculously wide (or tall) pictures on an iPhone. But both bridges, 270 degrees or so, not too shabby.
The scary part is it being 70 degrees – should I really be able to wear shorts when it’s nearly December?
The Dolores shots are actually from the weekend before last, but regardless, we’re going to have an Indian Winter if this keeps up.
