21st Sutro GIF
April 16, 2012
For I am become GIF, the animator of worlds.
Or, “what a bowling ball would see if you dropped it at 21st and Sanchez.” Movie here. (But I think we all realize the superiority of our loopy friend.)
Anyone know of an iOS app that allows easy frame-by-frame alignment? I need to smooth this puppy out.

The first (and last) time I ever said “cunt” in front of my mom was I was driving us up that hill in the dark and right at the crest some asshole came speeding right at us, at a very dangerous clip, so I yelled “cunt” and everybody had to swerve wildly. Luckily we escaped unscathed, but I had yelled “cunt” in front of my mom.
If you just focus on the tower, the rest of the un-smoothness goes away…
Check out this Paris timelapse video to see how friscolex’s recommendation works. That said, I think the fellow who made the video had more resources.
Merci, Brian. Love the bit of the Bastille the best I think. (And the Montmarte part reminds me how much I hate the flatness of Paris from any elevation.) Oh, to be a flâneuse today in gai Paris…

Here’s an old ad from Sony, doing the reverse to yours, John (http://shelleysdavies.com/?p=6506). And somewhere, there’s a short film on the making of it. The logistics of letting loose 40 billion rubber balls on the streets of SF looked like quite a challenge. Good luck with the animation pursuits, Walt…
Wow, I had almost forgotten about that one! 1996, so/not long ago. Here’s that documentary you referenced.
I had also forgotten that earlier that year, David Letterman was in town for a week, and unsurprisingly, he too dropped stuff down hills (Filbert), including bouncy balls. The Sony producer claimed ignorance.
Letterman also rolled melons down the hill. I feel for the interns who had to clean that up.
