Burning Sutro

UPDATE: Unfortunately, these are no longer available.

I am lucky to have some pretty awesome readers. And some of them have control of LASERS.

@aidaan, member of the LaLeReLaArCoCo (La Lengua Revolutionary Laser Architectural Construction Council) had the foresight to undergo rigorous training to control LASERS in both the horizontal and vertical directions to create 1/1000th scale Sutro Towers.

Here we see the birthing process. Note the precision use of LASERS.

Behold the Sutrotitos in their dormant state:

Keep an eye out once assembled — an veritable army of them are now running free in the Mission.  (We trapped this specimen using beer and fries at Rosamunde.)

With IPAs and patience, you too can be a Sutro Whisperer.

Wow! @aidaan deserves the Very Special Gold Honor Medal for his work on LaLeReLaArCoCo.

How do I send him a request for other notable buildings of the SF skyline (or maybe just a bridge) so I can photograph them next to my dog, thus making him a friendly canine giant???? :-)

Yeah, I think there’s definitely a market for these. Please post a link on how/where/when we can get one. Looks like the guy just needs to hit “repeat” a bunch more times on his laser doohick (that’s technical speak).

I’d totally buy one of these, particularly if they were cut from aluminum or some other metal.

Hey guys. I’m the one that made this tower model. I finally got my Etsy store up to sell these. Here’s the listing:

I have 10 up there, now, but I can make more if I run out. Get ’em while they’re hot!

    DO WANT.
And another vote for more landmarks, please! I will so totally set up a miniature San Francisco skyline on my desk to keep me company until I can actually move back.

I made the original Lasercut Wood Sutro tower! Well played, Aiden. My company is called Studio for Metropolitan Craft. The Sutro kits have been selling briskly for the last month at “Therapy” on Valencia Street in the Mission. Please visit Therapy to pick up a kit of your own! My kit model is more accurate, higher quality (sorry aiden), and 20″ tall. I will have them up on Etsy soon under my store name…
    thanks,
    Laurence
