A Tale of Small Sutros
August 12, 2011
Update: these are no longer available.
Behold and rejoice! Commandante Aidan, LaLeReArWeOf (La Lengua Revolutionary Architectural Weapons Officer) has once again activated his laser against defenseless plywood and created many more miniSutros! These 1/1000 beauties are available on his Etsy store.
In other San Francisco art news, Axis Maps released a second edition of their typographical letterpress map of San Francisco! All lines are made of the street names themselves.
Mine are going fast, and I believe Laurence’s are as well. Surely these are the HOT NEW ITEMS this holiday season.
SOLD.
Just bought mine! The Original Aidan Model. I don’t know anything about this Laurence business.
I’m getting this to go with it:

Laurence is the original person who came up with this product. Aidan saw it at Therapy and copied it. But that’s ok with me. It’s a free country. And I learned some things from this too.
The readers of this blog are probably the most Sutro-aware group in the city, and none of us knew about your model. Including Aidan.
Hope your enjoying your new Etsy store!
Well thank you! Yes, I wanted to use thicker wood to achieve that silhouette effect from the side, and also have the “fillets” or rounded corners on the connections- those are very characteristic… I’m excited about the metal one I have in development now. I hope to have it out in a few weeks at Studio for Metropolitan Craft on Etsy.
Many thanks for the mention! Hope to have more available at my shop soon! best regards
