Sutro Sunset

January 8, 2012

400 shots, one every 5 seconds. (There’s a 30fps version but Vimeo decided to invert it for reasons mysterious to me.)

Watch for the contrail zipping across. Lots of people milling about Twin Peaks.

I’d like to figure out a way to stripefy this using either Patrick Gibson or @obeyken’s techniques.

Made it by clamping my iPhone and Photojojo zoom lens to the fence in front of the Bank of America parking lot on Mission.

Quick and dirty panorama of my workshop:

Standing on Mission for half an hour with a phone and zoom lens strapped to a fence draws surprisingly little attention, though the wise @zeke deduced my identity:

Update: naturally, our friendly neighborhood dirigible decided to fly in front of Sutro the day after I did the timelapse.

Dang, that Photojojo lens is pretty cool. Sweet video of Sutro Tower. I saw it lingering when walking along the OB. Watch out. Matti

A bit unrelated, but wondering if you’ve seen this already? It’s pretty awesome, much like the Mission. :-)

Sadly, yes. I have a tear-stained version printed out.
