Bikes to Books Spring 2020 Ride!

Bikes to Books Spring Ride

  • Saturday, May 2, 12:45-4:00 p.m.
  • North side of Jack London Alley, in South Park, SF
  • Tour ends in North Beach outside City Lights Books.

Our signature 7.1 mile bicycle tour of literary San Francisco combines San Francisco history, art, literature, cycling, and urban exploration—a diverting and unique way to celebrate the literary and adventurous spirit of San Francisco. In 1988, twelve streets were renamed for artists and authors who’d once called San Francisco their home, on a proposal from City Lights Books founder, and former SF Poet Laureate, Lawrence Ferlinghetti. In 2013, our homage, the Bikes to Books literary history bicycling tour and mapping project, was born. Ride with us, and learn about the authors and neighborhoods that made San Francisco a known literary hub—from South Park to North Beach, Jack London to Jack Kerouac—all from the comfort of your own bicycle seat!

Meet us on the north side of Jack London in South Park at 12:45. Bring bikes with gears, snacks, and enthusiasm. (This is an urban ride of moderate difficulty, recommended for riders 16 years of age and older.)
